iNSIDEoUT is hiring for the position of Interim Co-Director!

iNSIDEoUT180 is a youth-founded organization run by and for LGBTQI+ youth, based in the NC Triangle area. Outside In 180 is the adult-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has legal and fiduciary responsibility for iNSIDEoUT180. We are hiring for the role of Interim Co-Director. This part-time (5-10 hours per week) role is supported by multiple part-time staff, two Executive Boards, and several volunteer committees. We are looking for someone willing to consider transitioning to 10-20 hours per week as the current ED transitions out of their role in June. Our ideal candidate is well-organized, reliable, committed to queer youth liberation, and joyful in assisting our youth leaders to carry out their missions. Compensation is $20/hour. The position will remain open until filled, begins immediately. The basic responsibilities are listed below:

Part I: Youth

  • Assist youth in building a powerful, autonomous, youth-run organization
  • Ensure the smooth and safe functioning of all iNSIDEoUT programs
  • Ensure that the organization remains youth-run
  • Assist youth leaders in their efforts to network students across schools
  • Help run and facilitate leadership of Upsidedown, our group for youth 13 and younger
  • Help ensure the success of the iNSIDEoUT Board and Senate in achieving their goals and navigating challenges
  • Develop long-term strategy and vision inclusive of potential collaboration, outreach and development opportunities
  • Ensure that all organization representatives, including youth and adults, are appropriately trained and educated in matters relating to the organization’s core values, including intersectionality, anti-racism, queer liberation, and youth autonomy
  • Ensure that the organization upholds its values in all respects: what we eat, what we buy, where our money comes from, who we choose as community partners, and more

Part II: Adults

  • Help grow, train, unify, inspire, and get the right people with the right skills involved with the Outside In 180 Board
  • Help Outside In 180 articulate a unified purpose and identify ways to improve
  • Maintain Outside In 180’s 501(c)(3) status in accord with legal, fiduciary, and documentation requirements
  • Attend monthly Outside In 180 Board meetings
  • Ensure that the Outside In 180 Board is fulfilling its mission
  • Oversee our bookkeeping, accounting, and budgeting (primarily performed by Board Treasurer); communication and messaging strategy; fundraising and development strategy
  • Build relationships and stay connected to various co-creation partners
  • Oversee all staff, including selection and retention, documentation, training, communication, tax filings, and staff appreciation

  • High school graduate or equivalent; at least 21 years of age
  • Experience working alongside youth ages 13-19
  • Are committed to the organization’s mission of queer liberation through community organizing
  • Knowledge and experience of intersectionality, anti-racism, and youth autonomy
  • Experience supervising staff and volunteers
  • Must be reliable, on-time, with good time-management skills
  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects and activities with minimal oversight
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal, and listening skills; able to communicate effectively with youth, parents of youth, staff, volunteers, board, and community members
  • Experience working in a consensus-based decision-making framework
  • Passion and a vision for serving, connecting, and liberating queer youth

Bonus points if you have:

  • A college degree in related field or equivalent education and experience (e.g. Women’s/Gender/Queer Studies, Child Development, Psychology, Communications, etc)
  • Experience working with youth ages 13 and under
  • Experience working/volunteering in a nonprofit environment
  • Experience working in schools
  • Experience with financial management, fundraising, and budgeting
  • Additional skill-based training or certifications (communications skills, anti-racism trainings, consensus-building, nonprofit management, etc.)
